Yay! The book is "finished" to the extent that there is a beginning, a middle, and an end. There are characters and some action. I'm happy, and really, really in love with the story. Of course, there is tons more to do. The next draft is important, very important to me. It is where I decide if I have something that other people may enjoy reading, or if it is suitable for a drawer, and move on to the next idea.
I've decided to move the work over to Scrivener from yWrite. I really love yWrite. Without a program like that to help me organize my thoughts and scenes, I doubt I would have gotten past the first chapter. yWrite was perfect because it was free, which made it a great to try out this new hobby of mine. But, now I want a little more. Scrivener fits the bill, and it isn't expensive. I really want an easy way to see the changes in the book, and yWrite doesn't have that function.
The next few months I'm going to be working on moving my words, and rewriting. And rewriting. :-)
Then in November I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo! I have the germ of an idea, and have jotted a few things down. (Which is allowed!) The challenge seems interesting and fun. It will be a great exercise in concentration and dedication.
NaNoWriMo will also give me some space and distance from Planted, and I really think this will help me come back to the book in the new year with a fresh start, and ready for another rewrite!
Have Happy Days!
